Summertime

If someone came up to me and asked me the question: "What do you miss about summertime?" My answer would be simple. I would stand up and look them in the face and say, "Everything. I miss everything about summertime. I miss the smell of freshly cut grass, the queasy feeling you get inside of your stomach from eating to many icy-poles. I miss the children playing outside underneath the fire hydrants. I miss the smell of the beach flying though the air. I miss those hot summer nightswhere summer love can start to blossom.

But if that person asked me another question: "but what is the absolute, number one thing which you miss about summertime?" My answer would be very simple, "The number one thing, the absolute thing which has been on my mind for as long as i have being able to understand the meaning of summertime, is the closeness. When families, even though it seemed like the temperature was hotter than the sun, would be close together, when their child is sunburned, when a family member feels ill from the heat, or when its just too hot to go outside, families sit around their living rooms playing board games."

And at that I would walk away with a smile on my face, hoping that the person who was so curious about summertime could do something about it. He could help make an endless summer.

The End
